This is a collage that I have titled "Who I Am." It represents most of the most important aspects in my life. The first layer is a picture that I took when I was visiting my grandparents on Kiawah Island, South Carolina. It was a beautiful sunset with the silhouette of a palm tree. All I had to do with that photo is increase the saturation just a bit. The next layer is my selfie, which I took in natural light to make sure that the photo was well lit. My next layer is a picture that I took when I was watching the sunset on the beach with my closest cousins. The sun had just begun to go down so a nice, purple and pink light over the quiet waves. I thought it blended well with the color of my shirt in the selfie, so I constrained it to just that area. The next layer on my photo is one that means a lot to me. When my last pet passed away, my dad got a light reflecting, artistic marker of where we buried her. I took a picture of it because it reminds me of her a lot and it has a warm feeling. I used the smudge tool to blend the red colors into my hair so that it flowed through my collage nicely. Then, I have a photo of my dog, Bo. He is standing at the top of the stairs with a big window behind him. I was standing from the bottom, and the result was this picture with a unique angle and what I see as electric colors. My final picture is a profile photo that I took of my horse, Chance. I have had him for over 2 years and he quickly became a major part of my life. I love the relaxed expression that he has and how his dark color contrasts against the lighter backdrop of the sunset. "Who I Am" represents my life and a few things that matter to me very much. I think that it turned out nicely and I'm happy with it.
This is my double exposure that I call "Dream." I would have liked the edges to be smoother because even though I feathered the outer pixels, they still seem to rough to me. I do like the colors though, because I love the way they turn from yellow to orange to blue. I used the DryBrush font to put the quote on, and the title of the photo is inspired by the quote.
It is interesting to compare this selfie to the selfie that I did at the beginning of the year. It is easy to see how much more refined and experienced I have become in using photoshop. The colors in my double exposure are all related and stick to a certain color group, whereas my collage has wild and unorganized colors. I like how much more simple "Dream" is than "Who I Am" is. I love seeing the progression that I've made throughout the trimester and I am proud of the skills that I've developed.
